Travelling with Kids - 8 Eggciting Easter Activities

The school holidays are approaching fast and there is no better time of year to hit the road in your campervan or RV with the kids than the Easter break. The weather isn’t quite as hot and it’s the perfect chance to get away from it all for a few days. To make your travel adventures extra special we’ve put together a list of 10 activities you can do to make sure your kids have the most amazing time.

1. Cook damper hot cross buns

Nothing says Aussie travel adventure like damper and you can’t do Easter without hot cross buns, so why not have the best of both worlds? We’ve found a delicious recipe that will be the hit of the campsite.

2. Easter Egg Hunt

No Easter Sunday would be complete without an Easter egg hunt. If you have older kids you could take it to the next level and do a glow in the dark egg hunt!

Just be sure to hide them in places that can’t be accessed by wildlife and make note of where each one is hidden so that you don’t accidentally leave any behind. At Topargee we are big advocates for leaving no trace.

3. Stargazing

Stargazing is an essential activity to do with the kids once the sun goes down. You can’t beat staring up at the Milky Way in wonder, especially if you come from the city and aren’t able to normally see it. Hot tip: stars are best enjoyed while chomping down on an Easter egg.

4. Go on an Easter Hike

Get out in the fresh air and enjoy an Easter hike. It’s a great way to get those endorphins flowing and make sure that everyone gets all that extra energy out of their system. Don’t forget to pack an Easter themed snack to avoid hangry kids!

5. Hammock Time

After everyone has demolished their Easter egg haul, spend some quality downtime lazing away with a good book in a hammock. You can’t go past the Swammock for maximum comfort.

6. Decorate Easter Rocks

Challenge the kids to find the perfect egg shaped rock. Then, get those creative juices flowing, whip out the paints and let them decorate an Easter inspired masterpiece!

7. Bunny Hop Relay

Get the whole campsite involved with this one! Break into teams, set out the relay course and make the race the Easter event of the season. Costumes are highly encouraged! Remember, hopping only so no running is allowed.

8. Stories by the Campfire

Who is the Easter bunny? How did he come to be? Why do we celebrate Easter? These are all stories that are best enjoyed around the campfire while roasting delicious s’mores. Our suggestion - be sure to add some Easter eggs to those s’mores to make them extra tasty!

There are lots of ways to keep the kids entertained when travelling over the Easter break. Have you got any activities you like to do with your children when you’re on the road or at the campsite? Please share in the comments below.
